The Management

Teresian College, Mysore is owned and administered by the Carmelite Sisters of St. Teresa (CSST) Karnataka Province under the auspices of St. Teresa’s Education Society. It is a registered Minority Educational Institution enjoying the relevant rights and privileges granted by the Indian constitution. The Management belongs to the religious congregation (CSST) founded in 1887 by Mother Teresa of St. Rose of Lima at Ernakulam in Kerala. It is dedicated primarily to the advancement of women’s education and their empowerment. The motto of the college ‘Virtue is the sole and only nobility’ highlights the lofty mission undertaken by the management. With an established tradition for running quality educational institutions in different parts of the country, the management owns 120 Schools and 8 Colleges besides this college. Teresian College is a sister Institution of Mount Carmel College (Autonomous), Bangaluru, which is the topmost Women’s College in South India. The management and the staff of the college take special interest in all round development of each student. Students of all creed and caste are welcome as the congregation believes in a healthy pluralistic society. Great interest is taken in the wholesome growth of a heterogeneous community.

About the College

Teresian College was established in the year 1963 by Carmelite Sisters of St. Teresa (CSST) with the goal of empowering women through value based education. The institution is the first women’s college under private management in the heritage city of Mysore. Housed in a sprawling 12 acres campus the college incorporates a traditional academic setting with modern facilities conducive for effective learning and grooming.

The college is permanently affiliated to the University of Mysore, which has the reputation of being one of the highly rated Universities of the country. The college is offering under graduate programmes leading to B.A, B.Sc., B.Com, B.B.M degrees and Postgraduate courses in Biotechnology, Psychology English and M.Com. UGC funded cources like diploma in Health care, Advance Diploma in Health Care and Diploma in Accounting and Taxation are offered under community college programme.

Affiliation:

The College is named after St. Teresa of Avila, a mystic Saint of 16th Century, who symbolizes selfless dedication and devotion to Humanity. She possessed qualities of mind and heart. She was declared a Doctor of the Church in 1970. St. Teresa of Avila is a source of motivation and inspiration for the young women of the college. Imbibing the same spirit and philosophy, Mother Teresa of St. Rose of Lima has founded the Carmelite Sisters of St. Teresa in 1887, which has spearheaded the social change by establishing educational Institutions in different parts of India focusing on women’s education. Teresian College is one among more than 120 such premier Institutions managed by CSST.

It has been granted UGC recognition under 2(f) and 12 (B) and NAAC accreditation with ‘A’ Grade at CGPA of 3.19 (3rd Cycle)
