Department of Biotechnology

Introduction

UG Biotechnology is an undergraduate degree programme in applied sciences that amalgamates biological sciences and technology. The Department of Biotechnology was established in 2005. The Department is affiliated to the University of Mysore offering triple main Biotechnology-Chemistry-Zoology. The Department attracts students from all over the country and abroad.  The UG Biotechnology is exclusively focused in bridging life science to technology and entrepreneurship.

Core Features

Biotechnology is integrated into natural science and technical course. The department of biotechnology grooms the student with strong theory to nurture them to future opportunities in industries and research.  Two consecutive (one odd + one even) semesters constitute one academic year. Choice Based Credit System provides choice for students to select from the prescribed courses (core, elective or minor or soft skill courses). To bring in the desired uniformity, in grading system the cumulative grade point average (CGPA) based on the performance of students in the examinations is followed as per the UGC.  Students can explore job opportunities in Government and Private firm. The students have privilege to purse B.Ed in few institutes.
