Department of English (PG)

The Post-graduate Department of English was established in the year 2012, commemorating the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the College. It was started with very few students but later found pace and developed the reigns of innumerable achievements as years passed by. The Department offers courses like Master of Arts in English and Certificate courses in every semester. The course is affiliated to the University of Mysore which offers CBCS (Choice Based Credit System) method of studies and L: T: P (Lecture: Tutorial: Practical) method of imparting the course. The credit and graded method of evaluation of the course is much sought after in the divisions of Hard Core, Soft Core, Open Elective and Project Work cum Dissertation. The Department has a huge range of accolades both from the students and the Faculty over the years.

Courses Offered:

Postgraduate course in Arts (MA) with special reference to English Literature is a 4 semester/2 year course. The programme runs under CBCS (Choice Based Credit System). The selection process for the course is from students who have studied Optional English in   B.A/B.A. Ed with 45% for SC/ST/Cat – I and GM (OU also included)/IIA/IIB/IIIA/IIIB with 50% marks are eligible to pursue M.A in English. In case the student has taken more than 3 years to complete the course, 3% of his/her marks will be deducted accordingly. Students are admitted through PGCET conducted centrally through the University of Mysore.

The course is administered to students through Lectures and Tutorials on 1:2 proportions which carry 57 credits. The course has:
