Photography Competition “Flora of Teresian”

Department of Botany Extras Curriculum Activities

Photographs play an important role in everyone’s life – they connect us to our past, they remind us of people, places, feelings, and stories. Not even a single event goes without taking photos. Students want to capture their golden life of college in the form of photography which will be sweet memories to see and enjoy later.

Using this concept in mind, Department of Botany organized the photography competition so that they can improve their photography skill as well as remember the flora of Teresian College and the families to which they belong, as a part of Taxonomy study. Due to Corona lockdown only students of final years were given a chance to participate in the event as they were the only one present in the campus during that time. First and second years had online classes. After entering few girls from second years also participated.

The photographs were taken by their mobile and sent to Departmental mail. Two judges Mrs. Shruthi , Assistant Professor, Department of Economics and Mrs. Sahana, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce were the judges and selected the best photography.

Students got knowledge of Teresian flora in the campus as well as were able to list out few characteristic features of the families (knowledge of taxonomy) too. To take a good photo they visited several places; hence know in which part of our campus what plant is available.
